Second graders at Maine Memorial received a presidential letter this week written by a very important person: President Joe Biden.
In February, students in Rene Contrera’s and Michele Knaul’s classroom practiced writing friendly letters. With the election just passed, and Presidents’ Day approaching, the students decided to write their letters to the new president.
The students brainstormed some of the questions they could ask President Biden, then each student wrote their own unique letter. The questions they asked included “Do you get a vacation,” and “What is your most important job as president.” They also said they hoped that the president could help get rid of COVID 19 so they could see their friends and family again.
This week the students received a reply from Mr. Biden, on White House letterhead and with his signature! What an exciting surprise for our little Spartans!
