This morning, Debbie Takacs (Cook Manager at MEHS) received the Golden Spoon Award. The Golden Spoon is given by BOCES Food Service and was created to recognize our school nutrition professionals who go above and beyond. It is a way to let everyone know about the incredible work food service staff do every day. Any food service professional can be nominated. This includes food service managers, staff, drivers, and administrative professionals.
Nominations are anonymous. The following is the nomination statement:
"I would like to nominate Debbie Takacs for the Golden Spoon Award. Debbie is the Manager at Maine Endwell High School. Debbie walked into the school year with her cook being out on a medical leave until February of 2022. Debbie had also lost 2 employees at the end of 2021 due to retirement. She came into the school year with her head held high. She not only trained her two new employees she also did all the cooking while taking care of her normal duties. For the high school – she not only cooks the normal 1st choice- but Debbie had also decided to do all the normal 2nd choices that the students were used to. Debbie goes above and beyond daily to make sure the students get what they need and like. She has never complained once or been late on something that was due. Debbie also does catering for the District Office when they needed lunches which is monthly. The D.O has also thrown 3 unexcepted times they needed lunches and Debbie did not blink. She just took care of the request. She is everything you want in a manager plus more. She truly deserves this award".
Congratulations Debbie for all of your hard work and dedication!
