Smart School Bond

How will Maine-Endwell use its Smart Schools funding?

Maine-Endwell will use its Smart Schools funding to upgrade its school connectivity and classroom technology. This includes the replacement of older data cabling, which will allow for additional wireless Internet capacity to support the growth in the use of mobile devices. This upgrade will also lay the groundwork for the potential use of other systems in the future such as classroom door access controls, additional security cameras and Voice over Internet Protocol (VolP) telephones.

Funding will also be used to upgrade hardware and switches associated with the cabling replacement, and the addition of data closets at Homer Brink (1) and Maine Memorial (2).

What is the timeline for these upgrades?

Following State Education Department approval, the upgrades associated with the Smart Schools funding will take place as part of the district's capital project, approved by voters in 2014, which is anticipated to begin in the Summer of 2017.
